Welcome, and thanks for using Paper Effects. These terms are written to be read by humans. By using the site you agree to them, so here is exactly what you can expect from us and what we expect from you.
Paper Effects is a free, browser-based creative tool that renders paper-style text animations (a text match cut) and lets you export them as GIF, WAV and image assets. It requires no account, requires no payment, and runs entirely on your device. We may update, improve or change features at any time, and the look of the site may evolve with them.
The GIF, sound files and backgrounds you export are yours. Use them in monetised videos, adverts, client work, school projects, anything. We claim no ownership over your exports and we will never watermark them or ask for attribution, though a shout out is always appreciated.
Be a normal, decent internet citizen. Do not use the tool or the site to create anything illegal, harassing, hateful, deceptive or infringing. Do not attempt to break, overload, scrape abusively or reverse engineer the site beyond what normal use requires. Do not resell access to the tool itself or misrepresent the site as your own product.
You may type any keyword you like, including brand names, because rendering happens locally on your device. However, keywords that reference real companies or products do not create any affiliation, partnership, sponsorship or endorsement, and trademarks displayed in your exports remain the property of their owners. Using a brand name in a parody, commentary or review context is a matter between you and your audience and the law of your country, not a decision made by us.
The service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We work hard to keep the studio fast and reliable, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or fit for any particular purpose. Render results may vary between exports by design, because the animation is procedural.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Paper Effects and its creator are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or your exports, including lost profits, lost content or lost time. In plain words: check your renders before you publish, always keep backups of your projects.
We may add features, remove features, or change how the tool works as it evolves. Major changes that affect exports will be communicated on the site. We may also suspend the service for maintenance, though with a static, locally-rendered tool, downtime is rare.
